AgroConnect
The problem
Guinea pig breeding in Peru is growing, but many farms lack tools to manage animals, resources and expenses, or easy access to expert advice. AgroConnect brings farm management and advisor consultations into one web platform.
Key decisions
- Structured the Spring Boot API into bounded contexts with Domain-Driven Design, so farm management, appointments and users could evolve separately.
- Added an IAM context for authentication, and tied breeders and advisors to user accounts.
- Exposed queries by breeder and advisor, so each role's Angular views load only their own appointments, cages, expenses and publications.
- Integrated external services for video calls and image storage after interviewees flagged data entry and consultations as areas to improve.
- Containerized the API with Docker and moved it to a remote database for deployment.
The result
We deployed the API with Swagger documentation alongside the Angular app, and validated the product through user interviews and a heuristic evaluation across four sprints.
